COST
Membership in the Safety Council of Greater Columbus is $250 per BWC policy/ per year, which allows up to five (5) employees from the member firm to attend each meeting.

The Safety Council of Greater Columbus (SCGC) is an expansion of the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio’s efforts to meet the safety training needs of all Ohio employers, regardless of their affiliation with the Exchange. With nearly 250 members, the council serves Ohio employers interested in promoting and improving worker safety.

Together with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC), the SCGC holds monthly meetings to provide information on new techniques, products and services to help employers improve and promote safe workplaces.

By participating in SCGC for FY25 (July 2024 – June 2025), most employers who fulfill BWC safety council rebate eligibility requirements can earn a 3% rebate on their workers’ compensation premium.

Members may earn up to four (4) additional credits by:

• Attending virtual or in-person training including BWC safety training courses (BWC on-line e-courses and webinars do not qualify); Or attending in-person safety training provided by external sources (e.g., industry associations, third-party administrators, etc.) that is approved by BWC. (2 credits maximum)
• Completing a Comprehensive Onsite Consultation visit by a BWC Field Safety Service Consultant. This consultation must include a full hazard assessment and a claims review (Up to two credits maximum; limited to once every three years).
