Navigating the OSHA NEP on Heat Related Illnesses

This presentation will include a brief overview of key components of the OSHA NEP instruction, how to use the Heat Index or WBGT measurements to assess heat stress potential and include common control measures.

Robert worked for CIGNA Loss Control Services as an Environmental Health Specialist prior to his career at General Motors as a Senior Industrial Hygienist. He worked for General Motors for the next 31 years, supporting over 70 GM facilities during this time in the U.S. and Canada as a Regional Industrial Hygienist. He has supported both manufacturing and non-manufacturing sites, including the GM Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan and the GM Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. Robert earned the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification and maintained this throughout his career. He was earned the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification. Robert has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Wayne State University and his Master of Public Health degree in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Since retiring, he has been substitute teaching at a K-12 school and doing volunteer work.
